Character Name: Blake Belladonna
Series: RWBY
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Faunus
Appearance:
Blake is about medium height for a RWBY character, which basically means about the same height as an average 17 year old girl. She has yellow eyes and her curly black her goes to just below her shoulderblades. Though it's normally hidden behind a large bow, she has black cat ears which makes her a faunus.
She wears black boots and leggings that fade from purple to black and her personal emblem is on her left leg. On top of that is white shorts and a black vest over a white sleeveless blouse.
Personality:
Blake is much quieter than the rest of her team, introverted even, and mellower and more reserved than others. However his doesn't particularly prevent her from speaking her mind when she dislikes something, or having a sense of humor. She gets along fairly well with others for the most part. She can be friendly, and make jokes (particularly sarcastic ones), but if a conversation doesn't interest her she sees no issue in leaving it, particularly when something more intriguing has her attention. Books, for example.
Due to her history, she remains pessimistic about the likelihood of really making large changes in the way things are in the world. Despite this she has applied to a school where she will be trained in the defense of the realm, and becoming a huntress would indeed be a position to make changes from it seems. So perhaps not all of her idealism has left her.
Blake dislikes those who would make things worse for anyone. Those who would discriminate based on preconceived notions one way or the other attract her general ire and she has no issue calling them out on it. If continued it might actually raise her temper enough to lose what control she usually maintains, and she may say things that she will later regret. As a Faunus who has been discriminated against all her life and is hiding her race from most people she knows (and even her teammates until recently), this doesn't work in her favor. She is proud of her heritage despite hiding it, and defends her people whenever the topic comes up and berating her teammate for throwing insults at her people constantly. This is one of her biggest pressable mental buttons.
Abilities:
Many years prior to present day Vale, the Faunus and the humans battled. The humans commonly outmatched the faunus due to sheer numbers and sent many of the Faunus to a sort of island ghetto called Menagerie. Those who remained continued to fight until eventually a sort of peace was created. It during this time that the White Fang group was created as an effort to bolster goodwill between the two races, as well as help the Faunus gain equal social and economic rights. The idea was that with peaceful protest the discrimination could be fought. Blake joined the White Fang at an early age, and was at rallies partaking in sign holding and general lobbying for change.
However, a few years before present day, the old leader of the White Fang stepped down and was replaced. The new leader didn't believe that the peaceful protesting was going to work and started resorting to planned attacks and violence. Blake was a capable fighter and partook in these acts of terrorism until she realized that what they were doing was as bad as what the humans did.
She then left the White Fang organization during a train robbery, deciding to save the crew members from her partner in crime rather than stay in the group, and proceeded to eventually apply to Beacon Academy in order to train to become a huntress while hiding her less than clean past.
Once at Beacon, Blake went through initiation. Through the head professor's arcane method of flinging students into a forest full of monsters she became partners with another girl named Yang Xiao Long, and was placed on a team with Weiss Schnee (the heiress of a company with questionable practices) and Ruby Rose (who despite her last name is Yang's sister). The head of the school placed Ruby as the leader of the team. The four had their differences, after all living in close quarters would give anyone some issues, but overall Blake seemed to get along with the other four. Additionally Team RWBY became good friends with the 4 students across the hall in Team JNPR, commonly seen to be sitting together in classes and at lunch.
Blake tended to show dislike for those who harassed other faunus in the school and would speak out against them here and there, but held back for fear they would discover her own secret. Which she had still not told her own team about. She trained and went to classes and for the first time was living as a normal teenage girl from their world might (given that they were accepted into a top school and planned to fight monsters for the rest of their lives).
Months later, the Vytal festival arrived and Weiss decided to go look at the preparations early in the hopes of seeing future competitors who would be competing against the Beacon Academy students in the upcoming tournaments in order to gain an edge. There they first noticed a Dust Shop that had been robbed, but curiously the money had all been left behind while the wares where what was actually taken. On one of the cops investigating saying that it might have been the White Fang, Weiss starts making comments about the group. Blake tries to defend the group to a degree, calling them "misguided", and pointed out they didn't know why they would rob the dustshop. Ruby agrees, pointing out that it might have been the man she'd caught robbing a Dust Shop earlier named Roman Torchwick. Weiss decides not to deter from this path and starts to insult the faunus, and Yang barely manages to get a word in edgewise before a man is heard to be yelling in an attempt to get people to stop a Faunus.
The faunus is a monkey faunus, named Sun Wukong, who has stowed away on a ship in order to arrive in Vale. The girls run back to the docks in order to watch what happens just in time for him to pass by. Winking at Blake as he fled the scene, the monkey Faunus attracted Weiss' attention and the group followed him. Rounding a corner while giving chase, however, they instead collide with a pedestrian who ends up being a strange girl named Penny. This allows Sun to escape.
Once pleasantries with Penny are out of the way, the girl mentions she was in town to compete in the tournament. This prompts Weiss to question her about Sun, using derogatory wording and basically angering Blake as much as possible in a few minutes. The two start to bicker, and this carries on even when they've arrived back to their rooms.
The fight starts escalating into a shouting match, until Weiss reveals that she considers herself a victim. For good reason- many family friends and relatives that had been kidnapped or killed, and her father apparently made things difficult whenever a shipment went missing or trouble was caused. She ends her little speech about it by saying all Faunus are liars, thieves and murderers. Which is when Blake opens her mouth and says "well maybe we were tired of being pushed around!"
This finally reveals to the other three her past, and after a momentary hesitation she runs from the conversation despite Ruby calling for her to stop. She ends up at the statue of two hunters standing on a rock elevating them above a Grimm, pulling off her hairbow to reveal to the audience that she is in fact a faunus. But it turns out that Sun Wukong followed her home earlier, and he tells her she looks better without the bow.
She goes missing for three days, during which her team searches for her. During those three days she spends her time with Sun, only electing to tell him about her past on the third day. The two faunus decide to investigate the Dust Shop Thieves themselves to prove that the White Fang are not responsible, and they stake out the area from a nearby rooftop.
Unfortunately the rumors are proven true, and the White Fang do show up to steal the cargo. However they are led by Torchwick, who is decidedly human, and Blake decides that there is something wrong with this picture. She moves in to hold a knife to the crook's throat and ask the White Fang members why they would work with such a despicable creature, and he replies that the group and he are going in on a joint business venture together. He shoots the ground with his weapon and causes an explosion, followed by a long fight scene. Ruby and Penny (who had earlier teamed up to help find Blake) are attracted by the explosions and start to intervene, but Ruby gets shot and Penny gets "combat ready" by extending a number of blades controlled by some kind of wire system and proceeds to save the day.
Torchwick escapes, and then the cops show up to arrest those of the White Fang members who remain. Weiss and Yang arrive to collect the rest of their team, and Blake tries to apologize only to be interrupted by Weiss who then tells her that since is no longer associated with the White Fang it is unimportant to their present relationship. The team then reconciled their differences, and Im assuming went back home. Cue canon point.

Abilities:
- Aura - Aura protects the user and can enhance their strengths when the user employs either their Semblance or their weapons. As a protection it can deflect attacks to a degree, working as a forcefield. This gets weaker the less energy the user has, and the more hits they take the more energy is lost. Blake's semblance is called Shadow and basically allows her to quickstep short distances while leaving an afterimage. In battle this might allow for an extra step in a combo of hits, a quick redirection to attempt to jump out of the way of fire or closer towards an enemy, or it can be used as a sort of minor double jump. The Shadow Copies have some substance, but so far have faded very quickly and only appear in her near vicinity or in places she has just vacated.
- She most likely has night vision, as most faunus do and she apparently has no trouble watching over a shipyard at night with very little light.
- Her sword, Gambol Shroud. And the accompanying sheath that is bladed and can somewhat be used as a second blade.
- What she's wearing.
